Dr. Fang joined the Mechanical Engineering Department in 2014. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego in 2014. His research is focused on developing new principles, methods and tools to design, monitor and control engineering dynamic systems and applying them to address real-world challenges. Currently, he is interested in high-performance control-theory-oriented management of rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles and grids.

Dr. Fang has industrial experience at NEC Laboratories America and Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories. While at UC San Diego, he was a Gordon Engineering Leadership Scholar.
