EECS professor and I2S faculty member Rongqing Hui elected Fellow of Optica Society
In November, the Board of Directors of Optica announced the election of 121 members from 23 countries to the Society’s 2026 Fellow Class. KU electrical engineering and computer science (EECS) professor and Institute for Information Sciences (I2S) researcher Rongqing Hui is among them.

Faculty from I2S and the Medical Center participate in panel discussion on AI
Recently, faculty from the Institute for Information Sciences (I2S) and the School of Medicine joined a panel discussion as part of the Collaborative Research Lunch series on the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The panel was moderated by David Tamez, assistant research professor in the Institute for Information Sciences.

KU Blockchain Institute students represent university at London Blockchain Week
Seven students from the University of Kansas recently represented the university at the London Blockchain Conference and Zebu Live, from Oct. 17-24. The conference and related sponsored events comprise the UK’s largest enterprise blockchain event, dubbed London Blockchain Week, that sets out to shape how blockchain, web3, and AI are used to resolve real-world problems and deliver results.

KU’s Institute for Information Sciences Joins International Association for Safe and Ethical AI as Affiliate
Faculty researchers at KU’s Institute for Information Sciences (I2S) recently announced their affiliation with the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI (IASEAI). The independent nonprofit organization was founded in 2024 to address the risks and opportunities associated with rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI).
