A University of Kansas-led initiative has received a $2 million award from the National Science Foundation’s Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S-STEM) program to expand educational opportunities for low-income students pursuing careers in computing, engineering and emerging technology fields.
University of Kansas doctoral student Christina Hymer was selected to participate in the 2026 Argonne Training Program on Extreme-Scale Computing (ATPESC), a highly competitive program that prepares the next generation of computational scientists to harness the world’s most powerful supercomputers for scientific discovery.
The University of Kansas has welcomed researcher Dr. Sarah Sebo and her Socially Engaging roBOtics (SEBO) Lab, marking an important addition to KU’s growing research portfolio in artificial intelligence, robotics, and human-centered technology. As of summer 2026, Sebo has transitioned from the University of Chicago to KU, where she now serves as an assistant professor in the School of Engineering’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS).
