This workshop explores the critical role of philosophy in shaping discussions around technology and society, with a particular focus on the African context. Through thematic sessions and interactive breakouts, participants will examine how philosophical traditions, both African and global can inform ethical AI development and governance. Discussions will highlight Africa’s unique contributions to global technological debates, addressing issues such as misinformation and disinformation, and the intersection of technology with African ethical and political thought. By centering African perspectives, this workshop aims to foster meaningful engagement on how philosophy can guide responsible and inclusive technological development on a global scale.
