Biography

David W. Petr is a Professor in the Electrical and Engineering and Computer Science Department and the Information and Telecommunication Technology Center at the University of Kansas. From 1977 to 1986 he was employed by AT&T Bell Laboratories, working in the areas of digital PBXs, digital transmission systems, packet communication networks and protocols,and speech coding. He was awarded three patents related to this work and was an internal Bell Laboratories candidate for the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Young Electrical Engineer Award in 1984. While pursuing his doctoral degree, he received the 1987 IEEE Frank A. Cowan Scholarship for graduate studies in communications.
